Description
The ivory-colored butter, also called karite, comes from the nut of the shea tree. Sometimes called “women’s gold” as it provides employment to women in 19 African nations, this shea butter is produced in a traditional way by a group of women from the north of Ivory Coast. By laying strips of shea kernels to dry under the sun, they then remove the kernel from the seed, ground it into a powder and boil it in water. The butter then rises to the top of the water and becomes solid.
Benefits: moisturizer, antifungal, anti inflamatory, boost collagen production, added sun protector, prevent hair breakage, promote wound healing, relieve congestion, soothe conditions like eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis, etc…
How to use: Shea butter usually works with all types of skins and hair for smoothing, soothing, and conditioning.
*Some countries use the unrefined shea butter as a cooking oil*
